After solidifying his position in the Greek black metal scene in the 90s, Sykelig moved north to the darkness and depression of Norway where he created Den Saakaldte in 2006. Hellhammer joined as the first of what would amount to a number of great artists over the years, from well-known bands such as 1349, Ondskapt, Koldbrann, Sarkom, In the Woods…, and Djevelkult - to mention just a few - contributing to the band being hailed as a supergroup from the get-go. Den Saakaldte marked their territory early by headlining the Inferno festival and releasing the debut album "Øl, Mørke og Depresjon" in 2008.
